There has been a great deal of discussion concerning the “masculine feel” of Christianity. I thought it was about time to weigh in on that conversation.
Turn with me to Genesis 4:3-7. Here we find two brothers, Cain and Abel, offer a sacrifice to God. Abel offers an animal from his herd; Cain offers vegetables and fruit. Which one does God accept? That’s right…just like every other manly man I know, God chose the meat. This solution explains both a complex passage and adds further proof for the masculine feel of Christianity.
Almost hard to believe this argument hasn’t settled the whole debate. 😛
I know…all this time the solution was staring us in the face.
The New Testament also clearly teaches that real men BBQ meat on the grill. “When they got out on land, they saw a CHARCOAL FIRE in place, with fish laid out on it, and bread. 10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.” (Jn 21.9-10) Not vegetables here boys, and in the original Greek the word for “bread” might also possibly be translated potatoes.
If men in our churches don’t step up to plate (pun intended) and start eating meat, how we can we expect true leadership? Thank you not being afraid to tackle the tough issues of our day!
