Early Friday morning (3:05 AM), Elijah Christopher Cerone was born. He is 22 inches long and 9lbs 6oz. This is our first little one, and we couldn’t be more excited. Right now he is laying on my favorite pillow, eyes wide open, staring at me as I write up this little post. Here are a few photos of the little guy and his “rents.”
In case you were wondering about the name… Mary Beth and I wanted a name that did a couple things. I wanted one that combined my love of the biblical languages (Hebrew and Greek…no second middle name to incorporate Aramaic…sorry guys). We both wanted a name that “meant” something. Elijah means “My God is Yah” or “The LORD is my God.” Christopher means “bearer of Christ.”
The name joins the Old and New Testaments, insofar as a name is capable of such a task. It claims that the Christian conception of God is unchanged from the God of Israel, Yahweh. It is our prayer that Yah(weh) will be his God and that he will unashamedly take up the name of Christ.
Beautiful testimony about the selection of his name. I pray as you do that Yahweh will be his God and that he will take up the name of Christ. There is no greater joy than this for a parent.
What a beautiful and meaningful name. Such a beautiful little boy. You have been blessed indeed.
God is good, all the time. Heartiest congratulations to all three of you.
Congratulations to all; love the name choice and reasons for it!
Beautiful!
